Peony Shop Hollandilla on pitkä ja monipuolinen historia. Viisi Scholtenin sukupolvea on omistanut yrityksen 146 vuoden ajan Lutjebroekissa, joka on 2 000 asukkaan kylä Alankomaiden pohjoisosassa.

Simon Scholten perusti vihanneksia viljelevän yrityksen vuonna 1875. Seuraavat kolme sukupolvea viljelivät vihanneksia ja kukkasipuleita, kuten tulppaaneja.

Jeremy Scholten ja hänen vanhempansa tulivat yhtiön omistajiksi vuonna 1989. Hänen veljensä Joshua Scholten tuli mukaan vuonna 1995. Syyskuun 2011 jälkeen Scholtenin veljekset jatkoivat perheyritystä kahdestaan. He arvostavat suuresti vanhempia, heidän työtään ja perheyrityksen pitkää historiaa.

Yritys alkoi kasvattaa pioneja Alankomaiden markkinoille vuonna 2001. Kaksi vuotta myöhemmin Joshua alkoi jalostaa uusia pionilajikkeita. Koska Jeremy ja Joshua ovat kiinnostuneita Rooman historiasta, he nimeävät pionilajikkeet roomalaisilla nimillä kuten kuuluisien Rooman keisareiden nimillä. Vuonna 2004 yritys alkoi viedä pioneja Alankomaista kaikkialle Eurooppaan, Amerikkaan ja Aasiaan pääasiassa tukkuasiakkaille. Vuonna 2006 yritys erikoistui pionien kasvattamiseen ja alkoi tuottamaan myös jonkin verran leikkopioneja Alankomaiden markkinoille. Vuonna 2015 yritys muutti markkinointinimeksi Peony Shop Holland.

Avain menestykseen on ainutlaatuinen pionivalikoima, joka on kasvatetaan korkealaatuisilla menetelmillä ja henkilökohtaisella asenteella. Scholtenin veljekset ovat ylpeitä kasvattamistaan tuotteista ja pyrkivät koko ajan parantamaan toimintaansa. He pitävät pioneista, joiden väri haalistuu kauniisti kukan vanhentuessa. He arvostavat myös kauniita kaksoisvärisiä pionilajikkeita.

Peony Shop Holland käyttää monia kehittyneitä tekniikoita pionien kasvatuksessa. Kun pionien juurakot istutetaan, niin Fendt-traktorin GPS-rekisteröintiohjelma tallentaa kaikkien pionilajikkeiden istutuspaikkojen GPS-koordinaatit 2 cm:n tarkkuudella. Istutuspaikkoja ja niiden kokoa sekä istutusaikoja voidaan tarkastella tietokoneelta ja tietoja jalostaa edelleen. Peony Shop Holland on kehittänyt ohjelman ”Arvioitu pionien määrä juurakkokokoa 3/5” jokaiselle pionilajikkeelle ja siementaimelle, jotta juurakoita voidaan alkaa myymään jopa vuosia ennen niiden sadonkorjuuta.

Peony Shop Holland – The main sponsor of Kotka Peony Park

Peony Shop Holland has a long and rich history. Five generations of Scholten family have owned the company for 146 years in Lutjebroek, which is a village of 2 000 residents in the northern part of the Netherlands. 

Simon Scholten started the company by cultivating vegetables in 1875. The next three generations cultivated vegetables and flower bulbs e.g. tulips.

The company was taken over by Jeremy Scholten and his parents in 1989. His brother Joshua Scholten joined in 1995. After September 2011 Scholten brothers continued the family business by themselves. They appreciate very highly your parents, their work and the long history of your family company.

The company started focusing on growing peonies for the Dutch market at first in 2001. Two years later Joshua started breeding peonies. Because Jeremy and Joshua are interested in Roman history, they decided to name the seedlings by Roman names like the famous Roman emperors. In 2004 the company started to export peonies from the Netherlands all over Europe, America and Asia mostly for wholesale customers. In 2006 the company was completely specialized in growing peony roots and on a smaller scale cut peonies mainly serving the Dutch peony flower market. In 2015 the company changed their marketing-name to Peony Shop Holland.

The key to the success is an exclusive assortment produced with the highest quality with a personal approach. Scholten brothers pride themselves in the products they grow and they are always searching for improvement. They like peonies who have a beautiful fade of color when they age from young to old. They also appreciate beautiful contrasting double colored peonies. 

Peony Shop Holland uses many advanced technologies in growing peonies. When peony roots are planted, a GPS register module in Fendt tractor saves GPS coordinates of the planting positions of all peony varieties in a precision of 2 cm. The positions, planting area size and planting time can be viewed and processed further in the computer. Peony Shop Holland has developed a formula for ”Estimated Amount of Peony Root size 3/5” for every peony variety and seedling to enable selling roots year(s) before they are harvested.
